Dacia Striker Teaser

It hasn't even been a week since the first camouflaged prototypes surfaced online – and now Dacia is officially giving us a first look at what's coming. The new Dacia Striker is no ordinary wagon. The name says it all: "Striker." And yes, this one's all about going on the offensive, both in terms of looks and concept.

The first thing that catches your eye: the silhouette. Clean lines, a steep tailgate, and that typically high shoulder line – some see a striking resemblance to the current VW Golf, especially in the side profile. But while the Golf requires you to dig deep into your pockets, Dacia stays true to its formula. The Striker is set to be the compact class's price-performance champion. Built on the proven CMF-B platform (familiar from the Sandero and Jogger), it offers space for five and plenty of luggage – ideal for family life or that next IKEA trip.

A Wagon for the People – Practical and Sensible

Inside, it's all about practicality. No unnecessary frills, but everything you need. An 8-inch touchscreen, digital instruments, and plenty of storage spaces. Boot volume? Rumoured to easily hit around 600 litres. And under the hood? Likely the trusty 1.0-litre turbo petrol with 90 or 110 hp – maybe even an ECO-G version for natural gas, as is typical from Dacia. A diesel isn't planned, but honestly? At this price, you don't need one.

But the Striker aims to be more than just a budget workhorse. Dacia has come up with something special to celebrate its connection with the brand and its fans. Those in the know are aware: Dacia has been involved in football for years, especially in Eastern Europe. And that's exactly where the legends come into play.

Striker Colours for True Fans: The "Tričko autolegendy" Edition

To mark the launch, Dacia is introducing a special edition that will make any football romantic's heart skip a beat. It's called the "Tričko autolegendy Dacia Barva" – which loosely translates to "Car Legend Jersey in Dacia Colours." It might sound a bit clunky, but it's a brilliant tribute to the football heroes of the 90s and 2000s who made waves in the Eastern leagues. There will be three paint options, each dedicated to a real striker star:

  • Sebastián Pol Red – A fiery red, named after the Argentine goal-getter who scored for fun in the Slovakian league during the 90s. His passion and sheer determination – that's exactly what this colour is meant to convey.
  • Viorel Frunză Blue – A deep, rich blue, reminiscent of the calm superiority of the Romanian national striker. Frunză, who once played for Dinamo Bucharest, embodied elegance on the pitch – and the Striker in this blue rolls just as elegantly down the road.
  • Ghenadie Orbu White – Pure, clean, but with a hidden edge. The Moldovan striker, who played in Romania for a long time, was known for his anticipation and goal-scoring instinct. This white is the perfect canvas for those who love understatement but still know what they've got.

These special models will be available in limited numbers. Each one also features small emblems on the fenders with the players' likenesses. A collector's item, then – and a clever idea to inject a bit of football romance into the often soulless automotive world.

Swiss Launch This Summer?

Exactly when the Dacia Striker will arrive at Swiss dealerships hasn't been officially confirmed yet. But if there's one thing I've learned about Dacia: they don't keep people waiting long. I'm guessing a market launch in late summer 2026. The price? I'll hazard a guess: Starting around 16,000 Swiss Francs for the base version. The "Tričko autolegendy" edition will naturally be a bit pricier – but still a bargain compared to anything else that even remotely looks like it.

So, if you're looking for an affordable, stylish, and practical wagon, and you also have a soft spot for football legends, you should keep your eyes peeled. The Dacia Striker could be the year's most surprising hit – both on the pitch and on the road.
