Dacia Striker Teaser

It's been less than a week since the first camouflaged prototypes popped up online – and now Dacia is officially giving us a first look at what's coming. The new Dacia Striker is shaping up to be no ordinary estate. The name says it all: "Striker." And it's clear this one is all about attack, both in looks and concept.

The first thing that grabs your attention: the silhouette. Clean lines, a steep tailgate, and that typically high shoulder line – some might spot a striking resemblance to the current VW Golf, especially in profile. But while the Golf demands a serious chunk of change, Dacia stays true to its roots. The Striker is set to be the compact class's price-to-performance champion. Built on the proven CMF-B platform (familiar from the Sandero and Jogger), it offers space for five and plenty of room for luggage – ideal for the daily family run or that next IKEA trip.

An Estate for the People – With Heart and Practicality

Inside, it's all about practicality. No unnecessary frills, but everything you need. An 8-inch touchscreen, digital instruments, and loads of storage spaces. Boot capacity? Rumoured to hit around 600 litres easily. And under the bonnet? Likely the trusty 1.0-litre turbo petrol with 90 or 110 hp – maybe even an ECO-G version running on natural gas, as Dacia fans know well. A diesel isn't on the cards, but let's be honest: at this price, you don't need one.

But the Striker aims to be more than just a budget workhorse. Dacia has cooked up something special to celebrate the connection with the brand and its fans. If you know the brand, you'll know Dacia has been involved in football for years, especially in Eastern Europe. And that's where the legends come into play.

Striker Colours for True Fans: The "Car Legend Jersey" Edition

To launch, Dacia is releasing a special edition that'll make any football romantic's heart skip a beat. It's called the "Tričko autolegendy Dacia Barva" – roughly translated as "Car Legend Jersey in Dacia Colours." It might be a bit of a mouthful, but it's a brilliant tribute to the football heroes of the 90s and 2000s who made waves in the Eastern leagues. There will be three paint jobs, each dedicated to a real striker legend:

  • Sebastián Pol Red – A fiery red, named after the Argentine goal-getter who banged them in for fun in the Slovakian league during the 90s. His passion and sheer determination – that's exactly what this colour is meant to convey.
  • Viorel Frunză Blue – A deep, rich blue, reminiscent of the calm authority of the Romanian national striker. Frunză, who once played for Dinamo Bucharest, embodied elegance on the pitch – and the Striker in this blue rolls just as elegantly down the road.
  • Ghenadie Orbu White – Pure, clean, but with a hidden edge. The Moldovan forward, who spent a long time playing in Romania, was known for his anticipation and nose for goal. This white is the perfect canvas for those who love understatement but still know what they've got.

These special models will be available in limited numbers. Each one also sports small emblems on the wings featuring the players' likenesses. A collector's item, then – and a genius idea to inject a bit of football romance into the often soulless automotive world.

Irish Launch This Summer?

It's not officially confirmed yet exactly when the Dacia Striker will arrive in Irish showrooms. But if there's one thing I've learned about Dacia: they don't keep you waiting long. I'm betting on a launch in late summer 2026. Prices? I'll hazard a guess: starting around €18,000 for the base version. The "Car Legend Jersey" edition will naturally cost a bit more – but still a bargain compared to anything that even vaguely looks like it.

So, if you're after a stylish yet practical estate that won't break the bank, and you've a soft spot for football legends, you'd want to keep your eyes peeled. The Dacia Striker could just be the surprise hit of the year – on the pitch and on the road.
