Dacia Striker Teaser

It hasn't even been a week since the first camouflaged prototypes surfaced online – now Dacia is officially giving us a first look at what's coming. The new Dacia Striker is not meant to be just another estate car. The name itself says it all: "Striker." And indeed, this one is all about attack, both in looks and concept.

What immediately catches your eye is the silhouette. Clean lines, a steep tailgate, and that typically high shoulder line – some see a striking resemblance to the current VW Golf, especially in the side profile. But while you have to dig deep into your pockets for a Golf, Dacia stays true to its philosophy. The Striker is set to be the price-to-performance champion of the compact class. Built on the proven CMF-B platform (familiar from the Sandero and Jogger), it offers space for five and plenty of luggage – ideal for family life or that next trip to a big-box store.

An Estate for the Masses – with Heart and Soul

Inside, it's all about practicality. No unnecessary frills, but everything you need is there. An 8-inch touchscreen, digital instruments, and plenty of storage spaces. Boot space? It's expected to comfortably reach around 600 litres. And under the hood? Likely the trusty 1.0-litre turbo petrol with 90 or 110 bhp – maybe even an ECO-G version for CNG, as is typical from Dacia. A diesel isn't planned, but honestly? At this price point, you don't need one.

But the Striker aims to be more than just a budget workhorse. Dacia has come up with something special to celebrate the connection with the brand and its fans. Those who know the brand are aware: Dacia has been involved in football for years, especially in Eastern Europe. And that's where the legends come into play.

Striker Colours for True Fans: The "Car Legend Jersey" Edition

To mark the launch, Dacia is introducing a special edition that will make any football romantic's heart skip a beat. It's called the "Tričko autolegendy Dacia Barva" – which loosely translates to "Car Legend Jersey in Dacia Colours." It might sound a bit complex, but it's a fantastic tribute to the football heroes of the 90s and 2000s who made waves in the Eastern leagues. There will be three paint schemes, each dedicated to a real striker star:

  • Sebastián Pol Red – A fiery red, named after the Argentine goal-getter who was a scoring machine in the Slovak league during the 90s. His passion and relentless drive – that's exactly what this colour is meant to convey.
  • Viorel Frunză Blue – A deep, rich blue, reminiscent of the calm superiority of the Romanian national striker. Frunză, who once played for Dinamo Bucharest, embodied elegance on the pitch – and the Striker in this blue rolls down the road with just as much elegance.
  • Ghenadie Orbu White – Pure, clear, but with a hidden edge. The Moldovan forward, who played for a long time in Romania, was known for his anticipation and goal-scoring instinct. This white is the perfect canvas for those who love understatement but still know what they've got.

These special models will be available in limited numbers. Each of them also sports small emblems on the fenders with the players' likenesses. A collector's item, then – and a brilliant idea to inject a bit of football romance into the often soulless automotive world.

Swiss Premiere in Summer?

Exactly when the Dacia Striker will roll into showrooms in Switzerland hasn't been officially confirmed yet. But if there's one thing I've learned about Dacia: they don't keep people waiting too long. I'd guess a market launch in late summer 2026. The prices? Let me venture a guess: the base version will likely start around 16,000 Francs. The "Car Legend Jersey" edition will naturally be a bit more expensive – but still a steal compared to anything that even remotely looks like it.

So, if you're looking for an affordable, stylish, and practical estate car, and you also have a soft spot for football legends, you should keep your eyes peeled now. The Dacia Striker could be the most surprising hit of the year – on the pitch and on the road.
