Dacia Striker Teaser

It's been less than a week since the first camouflaged prototypes surfaced online – and now Dacia is giving us our first official look at what's coming. The new Dacia Striker is set to be no ordinary wagon. The name says it all: "Striker." And true to form, this thing is all about making a bold move forward, both in looks and concept.

The first thing that grabs your attention: the silhouette. Clean lines, a steep tailgate, and that typically high shoulder line – some might spot a striking resemblance to the current VW Golf, especially in the side profile. But while the Golf demands a deep pockets, Dacia stays true to its roots. The Striker is shaping up to be the compact class's price and performance hero. Built on the proven CMF-B platform (familiar from the Sandero and Jogger), it offers space for five and plenty of luggage – ideal for family life or that next trip to IKEA.

A Wagon for the People – with Heart and Soul

Inside, it's all about practicality. No unnecessary frills, but everything you need is there. An 8-inch touchscreen, digital instruments, and plenty of storage spots. Boot space? Expect it to easily nudge the 600-litre mark. And under the bonnet? Likely the tried-and-tested 1.0-litre turbo petrol with 90 or 110 horsepower – maybe even an ECO-G version running on natural gas, a familiar Dacia offering. A diesel isn't on the cards, but honestly? At this price, you won't miss it.

But the Striker aims to be more than just a cheap hauler. Dacia has cooked up something special to celebrate its connection with the brand and its fans. If you know the brand, you'll know: Dacia has been involved in football for years, particularly in Eastern Europe. And that's where the legends come into play.

Striker Colours for True Fans: The "Tričko autolegendy" Edition

To launch, Dacia is releasing a special edition that'll get any football romantic's heart racing. It's called the "Tričko autolegendy Dacia Barva" – loosely translated: "The car legend's jersey in Dacia colours." It's a bit of a mouthful, but it's a brilliant tribute to the football heroes of the 90s and 2000s who made waves in the Eastern leagues. There will be three paint jobs, each dedicated to a real striker star:

  • Sebastián Pol Red – A fiery red, named after the Argentine goal-scorer who banged them in for fun in the Slovakian league during the 90s. His passion and relentless drive – that's exactly what this colour is meant to convey.
  • Viorel Frunză Blue – A deep, rich blue, reminiscent of the calm dominance of the Romanian national striker. Frunză, who once played for Dinamo Bucharest, embodied elegance on the pitch – and the Striker looks just as elegant in this blue.
  • Ghenadie Orbu White – Pure, clear, but with a hidden toughness. The Moldovan striker, who had a long career in Romania, was known for his anticipation and goal-scoring instinct. This white is the perfect canvas for those who love understatement but still know what they've got.

These special models will be a limited release. Each one also sports small emblems on the front fenders featuring the players' likenesses. A collector's item, then – and a genius idea to inject a bit of football romance into the often soulless automotive world.

Australian Launch on the Horizon?

Exactly when the Dacia Striker will arrive in Australian showrooms isn't officially confirmed yet. But if there's one thing I've learned about Dacia: they don't like to keep people waiting. My guess is a launch in late 2026. The price? I'll hazard a prediction: expect the base version to start around $26,000 AUD. The "Tričko autolegendy" edition will naturally cost a bit more – but it'll still be a steal compared to anything else that even vaguely looks like it.

So, if you're after a stylish, practical, and affordable wagon, and you've got a soft spot for football legends, you'll want to keep your eyes peeled. The Dacia Striker could just be the surprise hit of the year – both on the pitch and on the road.
