Happy New Year.. Friday is the first day of Eid Al Fitr in the Emirates
O people of the Emirates, your Eid cake is still a little cold, and your head is held high from fatigue after a generous month. Tonight, the news we had been waiting for came out, and we were happy about it as much as a child is happy about Eid. The competent authorities did not take long for us, and officially announced that after the crescent sighting committees did not sight the crescent tonight, it is the Thursday that completes the month of Ramadan, and thus, Friday, March 20, 2026 will be the beginning of the month of Shawwal and the first day of Eid Mubarak for the entire Islamic nation. Happy New Year, may God bring it back to us and you with health and blessings.
Friday is the first day of Eid in the Gulf
It's not just us who have to celebrate Eid on Friday. All the Gulf countries are in the heart of one man. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain all announced the same thing: that the crescent moon was not seen today, and that tomorrow Thursday is the last day of Ramadan, and after the Eid holiday. Good tidings unite joy in every home, from Sharjah to Doha, and from Riyadh to Manama. Some sources indicated that viewing was possible with a telescope in areas, but countries only adopted it with the correct legal vision, and we ended on Friday.

The Sunnahs and Etiquettes of Eid...a joy that is incomplete without them
Eid is not just new clothes and outfits. Eid is a year and love. Before you go to pray, do not forget the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: You put on perfume, wear your comb, wear the best thing you can, and walk one way and return another way so that the earth will bear witness to you. At the dawn of Eid, eating dates before prayer is also a Sunnah, by which you break your fast and announce the end of the holy month. It is also Sunnah to say “Allahu Akbar" after the Fajr prayer until the time of prayer, and to pay Zakat al-Fitr before going out to the prayer place.
Eid prayer.. When do we pray?
Eid prayer in the Emirates takes place approximately a quarter of an hour after sunrise, meaning around 6:30 in the morning. Preachers will ascend the pulpits, congratulating the worshipers and reminding them to fear God. Prayer is two rak'ahs, in the first there are seven takbirs after the opening takbir, and in the second there are five takbirs, and this is a Sunnah established by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
Eid in the Emirates...other than
Our Eid has a second flavour. The gatherings open their doors in the morning, the Arabic coffee and dates are gathered at the table, and the children are wearing the most beautiful clothes and galabiyas. In Dubai and Abu Dhabi, public places and markets are witnessing great activity, and families head to parks and gardens. This is a day of joy, a day in which you forget your worries and reconcile yourself with the one you love. Happy New Year, and Eid Mubarak, and happy New Year to everyone.
