Couple Challenge 2026: Drama, Feuds, and These Nine Couples Fighting for $100,000
Who would have thought a campfire in the Sauerland could be such a powder keg? The fifth season of Couple Challenge is just hitting the home stretch, and what can we say? It's delivered again. What's currently flickering across screens on RTL+ and RTLZWEI isn't a tender couples' retreat, but a full-blown psychological test for nine more or less famous duos. Some want to prove their love, others their convenience partnership, and then there are the Petrovic brothers, who are just there to flex their muscles. High time for an update from the camp, where emotions are running as high as the $100,000 prize money.
These Nine Couples Are Taking on the Challenge
This year, the network really outdid itself, putting together a motley crew you wouldn't even find at the zoo on a Sunday. Nine teams have been battling it out for the cash since January 14th, with the free-TV episodes airing every Wednesday on RTLZWEI – and tonight there's even another double episode. In the running are:
- Patrick and Bettina "Texas Patti" Habig: Germany's most famous swingers' club couple. Will the chemistry in camp be as good as it is in the club?
- Virginia and Andrew Weiss: Formerly known as "Familie Weiß" with the whole gang, now finally just the two of them.
- Aleks and Marko Petrovic: The "muscle brothers" and walking testosterone bombs. Their calculation: power over strategy – will it pay off?
- Emmy Russ and Samuel: A convenient partnership that needs to prove they can hold their own not just on the catwalk, but also by the campfire.
- Liza Waschke and Sebastian Fobe: She's a "Berlin – Tag & Nacht" newcomer, he's a reality TV pro. A classic win-win?
- Hendrik and Sophie: The winners of "Summer House of the Regulars" are now aiming for the Challenge crown. Armed with humor and a pack of smokes.
- Carina and Chika: The married couple who knows how to fight – though Chika has one tiny problem: a fear of heights. Pretty suboptimal for some challenges.
- Zoe Saip and Patrik: Temperament meets a calming influence. The only question is, who will drive whom up the wall and when.
- Ariel and Joshi Josh – the Secret Couple: The ultimate challenge. Two strangers who meet for the first time in camp. She's actually hoping for a hot single guy, he's hoping for harmony. This should be interesting.
When the Fists Fly: Ariel vs. Petrovic
Speaking of interesting – and it certainly got there. But not in a funny way, more in a "cameras rolling, full program" kind of way. No sooner had the Petrovic brothers arrived in camp than the first scandal erupted. Ariel, who we'll soon be seeing in another show too, couldn't believe her eyes. She and Aleks Petrović have a history, and it's not a good one. During a previous show ("The 50"), she claims he was so incredibly rude that she even told him to shut up. Her reaction when she saw him in camp? "He was my biggest fear, that he'd be here. I can't stand him. He shouldn't even look at me – he triggers me."
Aleks, who likes to call himself a "masculine man," of course dismissed it as just a ploy for airtime and, confiding in his brothers, called her a "little drama queen." Real smart move, whoever's yelling loudest here. Later, though, he was crying to Virginia Weiss about his "broken heart" over his ex – we'll have to see if anyone can match that tightrope act between macho man and sensitive soul.
Bodyshaming, Beef, and the Next Escalation
As if the constant clash with Petrovic wasn't enough, there was also drama among the girls. In one of the recent episodes, a fight escalated between Ariel, Emmy Russ, and Sophie. It was about the sacred rights to the smoking area, and suddenly a comment was made about Sophie's body that was totally out of line. Ariel just laughed it off, but it was the wrong kind of laugh. The internet went crazy, and the term bodyshaming started trending. Ariel had to apologize via Instagram and admitted her laugh was "absolutely shitty." But whether that convinced all the critics? Probably not.
And while some are apologizing, others are already squabbling in advance. Carina (the one with wife Chika) found Hendrik and Sophie's behavior in the first episodes "more than unpleasant" and called them "complete idiots." Sophie, of course, fired back immediately on Instagram: "We're far from being antisocial... but I can certainly become it if the opportunity arises." Well, if that isn't a warning shot.
What Airs When? And What's the Deal with the Books?
For everyone now hooked: new episodes air every Wednesday on RTLZWEI. It continues tonight (from 10:15 PM), which means more catching balls, riding the zipline, and trying to keep it together in camp. Anyone who can't wait can tune in a week earlier on RTL+.
Oh, and by the way: While the contestants are huffing and puffing in camp, many fans at home are grabbing the perfect reading material. Whether it's the psychological thrills of "One Perfect Couple" or the dark revenge story "Bound By Hatred" – the dramas on the bookshelf are sometimes just as intense as the ones on TV. And if all the chaos gets to be too much, a dose of mindfulness with "Breathe with Me" might help. Or you can just dive into the "Roman Stories" to see how other cultures handle relationships. It's almost like the Challenge – just without the cameras.
Stay tuned, folks. The next episodes promise even more drama. Whether the Petrovic brothers really end up being the strongest team, or if one of the other alliances manages to mess with their plans – we'll just have to wait and see.
