Couple Challenge 2026: Drama, Showdowns & These 9 Couples Vying for $100,000
Who would have thought a simple campfire in the Sauerland could cause so much drama? The fifth season of Couple Challenge is just hitting its final stretch, and honestly? It's been pure chaos. What's currently airing on RTL+ and RTLZWEI is far from a romantic retreat; it's a full-blown psychological test for nine more-or-less famous duos. Some are here to prove their love, others to validate their convenience arrangement, and then you've got the Petrovic brothers, who are basically just here to flex. High time for an update from the camp, where tensions are running as high as the $100,000 prize money.
These Nine Couples Are Taking on the Challenge
This year, the network has really outdone itself, assembling a motley crew you wouldn't even find on a Sunday at the zoo. Nine teams have been battling it out since January 14th for the cash prize, with the free-to-air episodes airing every Wednesday on RTLZWEI – and tonight, there's even a double bill. Here's the lineup:
- Patrick and Bettina "Texas Patti" Habig: Germany's most famous swingers' club couple. Will the chemistry in camp be as good as it is in the club?
- Virginia and Andrew Weiss: Previously seen with the whole family on "Familie Weiß," now finally enjoying some time as a duo.
- Aleks and Marko Petrovic: The "muscle brothers" and walking testosterone bombs. Their strategy: brute force over finesse – will it pay off?
- Emmy Russ and Samuel: A partnership of convenience that needs to prove they can hold their own by the campfire, not just on the catwalk.
- Liza Waschke and Sebastian Fobe: She's a "Berlin – Tag & Nacht" newbie, he's a reality TV veteran. A classic win-win?
- Hendrik and Sophie: The winners of "Summer House of the Normies" are now aiming for the challenge crown. Armed with humour and a pack of smokes.
- Carina and Chika: The married couple who know how to fight – though Chika has one tiny problem: a fear of heights. A bit of a disadvantage for some challenges.
- Zoe Saip and Patrik: Fire meets calm waters. The only question is, who will drive who up the wall and when.
- Ariel and Joshi Josh – the Secret Couple: The ultimate twist. Two strangers meeting for the first time in camp. She was hoping for a hot single, he's hoping for harmony. What could possibly go wrong?
When Sparks Fly: Ariel vs. Petrovic
Speaking of things going wrong – they did. And not in a funny way, but in a full-blown "cameras rolling, drama unfolding" kind of way. No sooner had the Petrovic brothers arrived in camp than the first scandal erupted. Ariel, who we'll also be seeing in another show soon, couldn't believe her eyes. She and Aleks Petrović share some serious history, and it's not good. Apparently, during a previous show ("The 50"), he was so incredibly rude that she actually told him to shut up. Her reaction upon seeing him in camp? "He was my biggest fear, that he'd be here. I can't stand him. He shouldn't even look at me – he triggers me."
Aleks, who fancies himself a "masculine man," naturally brushed it off as her just trying to get airtime and, in confidence with his brothers, called her a "little brat." Real smart move, buddy. Later, he was crying on Virginia Weiss's shoulder about his "broken heart" over his ex – the back-and-forth between macho man and softie is honestly next-level.
Bodyshaming, Beef, and the Next Explosion
As if the constant bickering with Petrovic wasn't enough, there's also been drama among the girls. In one of the recent episodes, an argument between Ariel, Emmy Russ, and Sophie escalated. It started over the sacred rights to the smoking area, and then suddenly, a completely out-of-line comment was made about Sophie's body. Ariel just laughed it off, but it felt all wrong. The internet went into overdrive, with accusations of bodyshaming flying around. Ariel had to apologise on Instagram, admitting her laugh was "absolutely shitty." But did it convince the critics? Probably not.
And while some are saying sorry, others are already squaring up for the next round. Carina (the one married to Chika) found Hendrik and Sophie's behaviour in the early episodes "more than unpleasant" and called them "total idiots." Sophie, of course, fired back immediately on Instagram: "We're not antisocial... but I can easily become it if the situation calls for it." Well, that's a promise if we ever heard one.
When to Watch? And What's with All the Books?
For those now completely hooked: new episodes air every Wednesday on RTLZWEI. It continues tonight (from 10:15 pm), which means more ball catching, zipline flying, and struggling to keep it together in camp. If you can't wait, you can catch it a week earlier on RTL+.
Oh, and one more thing: While the contestants are huffing and puffing in camp, many fans at home are grabbing some fitting reading material. Whether it's the psychological thriller "One Perfect Couple" or the dark revenge story "Bound By Hatred" – the drama on the bookshelf can be just as intense as what's on TV. And if all the commotion gets too much, a dose of mindfulness with "Breathe with Me" might help. Or just dive into the "Roman Stories" to see how other cultures handle relationships. Kind of like the Challenge, just without the cameras.
Stay tuned, people. The upcoming episodes promise even more drama. Whether the Petrovic brothers really end up being the strongest team or if another alliance throws a spanner in the works – we'll just have to wait and see.
