Fallas 2026 is here, and Valencia is buzzing with the scent of gunpowder, fallas figures, and buñuelos. But as always, the headache for visitors (and us locals) is the traffic and parking nightmare. The city centre is chaotic, roads are closed, and the paid parking zones are jam-packed. Good thing Metrovalencia has once again come up with a brilliant solution: over 1500 free parking spaces at 18 above-ground stations. It's their way of making it easy for you to ditch the car and travel around town like a pro on the metro.

Where to Park for Free with Metrovalencia This Fallas

This initiative is a game-changer for anyone in the metro area or coming from out of town. During the Fallas festivities, you can leave your car for free at the park-and-ride facilities of these above-ground stations. They're designed to help you bypass the city centre gridlock and hop on a comfortable, stress-free metro ride. Here are some of the stations where you'll find available spaces:

  • Line 1: Empalme, Sant Isidre, València Sud, Paiporta, Picanya...
  • Line 2: La Canyada, Paterna, Fuente del Jarro...
  • Line 4 (tram): Parc Científic, TVV, Santa Gemma... (perfect for connecting to the centre without the hassle).
  • Line 5: Marítim-Serrería, Ayora, Amistat... although these are underground, surface stations like La Carrasca are included.
  • Line 9: Alboraia Peris Aragó, Almàssera, Meliana... ideal for those coming from l'Horta Nord.
  • Line 10: The new star of the network. While mostly underground, the Alacant station (connection with Renfe) is a major hub, and surface stops like Camí Reial offer parking options nearby.

In total, there are 18 stations with designated parking. Just a heads up: get there early because spaces fill up fast, but the service has been working like a charm since Fallas kicked off.

Line 10: Your Under-the-Radar Hero for Fallas

If you haven't tried Line 10 of Metrovalencia yet, this Fallas is the perfect time. Opened a few years ago, it connects the city centre with the south and Marítim-Serrería, where you can transfer to Line 5 and the tram. On mascletà or fireworks days, it's your ticket to getting to the City of Arts and Sciences and then heading into the centre without touching your car. And since it passes through Alacant, if you're arriving by AVE high-speed train, it's your best bet.

Line 4 and Line 9: Your Go-To for l'Horta and the North

Line 4 of the tram is often overlooked, but it's the queen of surface travel. It runs through the north of the city, the university area, and gets you to the centre (Pont de Fusta stop) in no time. Plus, many of its stops have free parking or nearby areas where you can safely leave your car. Meanwhile, Line 9 covers the stretch all the way to Alboraia and beyond. If you live near the beaches or are coming from the coast, park at one of its stations and you'll be at Plaza del Ayuntamiento in 20 minutes flat.

Network Safety: From the Tragic 2006 Accident to Modernisation

You can't talk about the Valencia metro without remembering the 2006 Metrovalencia accident that was a major turning point. That tragedy, the worst in Spain's metro history, claimed 43 lives and left a lingering sadness. But as a community, lessons were learned. Since then, the network has undergone a complete modernisation: automatic braking systems, new trains, refurbished tunnels, and a safety culture that's now exemplary. Every time you step on board, you can tell it's a different metro. More reliable, safer. And that, especially during busy times like Fallas, makes all the difference.

So there you have it: if you're heading out to enjoy Fallas, forget about driving into the city centre. Note down the stations with free parking, rely on Metro Valencia, and focus on what really matters: the music, the fireworks, and good company. Enjoy Fallas 2026!
