Metrovalencia during the 2026 Fallas: Free parking at 18 stations and everything you need to know about lines 4, 9 and 10
The 2026 Fallas are here, and Valencia smells of gunpowder, satirical monuments and churros. But, as every year, the biggest headache for those coming from outside (and for those of us who live here) is the traffic and parking. The city centre is mayhem, streets are closed off, and the pay-and-display zones are absolutely rammed. Thank goodness, then, that Metrovalencia, yet again, has come up trumps with a brilliant solution: over 1,500 free parking spaces at 18 surface stations. Basically, they've made it dead easy for you to ditch the car and hop on the metro like a sensible person.
Where to park for free with Metrovalencia this Fallas
This initiative is perfect for those living in the metropolitan area or visiting from further afield. During these Fallas days, you can leave your car for free in the park-and-ride facilities at the surface-level stations. The idea is to help you avoid the city centre gridlock and hop on the metro stress-free. Here are some of the stops where you'll find available spaces:
- Line 1: Empalme, Sant Isidre, València Sud, Paiporta, Picanya...
- Line 2: La Canyada, Paterna, Fuente del Jarro...
- Line 4 (tram): Parc Científic, TVV, Santa Gemma... (ideal for connecting to the centre without any hassle).
- Line 5: Marítim-Serrería, Ayora, Amistat... although these are underground, surface stops like La Carrasca are also included.
- Line 9: Alboraia Peris Aragó, Almàssera, Meliana... perfect for those coming from l'Horta Nord.
- Line 10: The new star of the network. Although mostly underground, the Alacant station (connecting with Renfe) is a major hub, and surface stops like Camí Reial offer parking options nearby.
In total, there are 18 stations with designated parking. Be sure to get there early though, as spaces fill up fast. But the service has been working an absolute treat since the Fallas kicked off.
Line 10: The unfamiliar line that'll be your Fallas lifesaver
If you haven't tried Line 10 of Metrovalencia yet, this Fallas is the perfect time. Opened a few years ago, it connects the city centre with the south of the city and Marítim-Serrería, where you can link up with Line 5 and the tram. On mascleta days or for the firework displays, it lets you get to the City of Arts and Sciences and then head into the centre without touching your car. And because it stops at Alacant, if you're arriving by AVE high-speed train, it's your best mate.
Line 4 and Line 9: Your allies from l'Horta and the northern area
Line 4 of the tram is another one that's often overlooked, but it's the queen of surface travel. It runs across the north of the city, past the university area, and whisks you to the centre (Pont de Fusta stop) in no time. What's more, many of its stops have free parking or nearby areas where you can leave your car without worry. Line 9, for its part, covers the whole stretch out to Alboraia and beyond. If you live near the beaches or are coming from the coast, leave your car at one of its stations with parking and you'll be right in Plaza del Ayuntamiento in 20 minutes.
Safety on the network: From the tragic 2006 accident to modernisation
You can't talk about the Valencia metro without remembering the 2006 Metrovalencia accident that marked a turning point. That tragedy, the worst in Spain's metro history, claimed 43 lives and left a lingering sadness. But, as a community, we learned our lesson. Since then, the network has been completely modernised: automatic braking systems, new trains, revised tunnels, and a safety culture that is now exemplary. Every time you step into a carriage, you can tell it's a different metro. More reliable, safer. And that, on busy days like the Fallas, is something to be thankful for.
So now you know: if you're enjoying the Fallas these days, forget bringing the car into the centre. Note down the stations with free parking, rely on Metro Valencia, and focus on what really matters: the music, the firecrackers, and good company. Happy Fallas 2026!
