Just over a year to go, and then it's on: From March 6th to 15th, 2026, the 2026 Winter Paralympics will be held in Milan and Cortina. The anticipation is building – and Switzerland is sending a small but highly motivated team to the starting line. Nine athletes will represent our colours, and I'm convinced they'll give us goosebumps.

Take, for instance, the para-snowboarder who suffered a horror accident a few years back. Many would have thrown in the towel, but he fought his way back – with one clear goal: "I want to be the best." That's exactly the attitude that defines our entire team. Alongside him, eight other Swiss athletes will be competing for medals in disciplines like alpine skiing, biathlon, and snowboard. I've been following them over the past few months, seen them train – the potential is enormous.

Three days you absolutely have to circle on your calendar

The program for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympics is packed with thrilling finals. Here are three days you should mark in your calendar if you want to catch the Swiss medal chances live:

  • Day 1 – The Kick-off: Things get underway right on the first day with the alpine skiing downhills and the first biathlon races. Our speed specialists are always good for a surprise on the fast slopes of Lombardy. The Day 1 highlights promise to be spine-tingling – will we snag that first podium finish on the opening day?
  • Day 4 – Downhill drama in Cortina: The fourth day of competition puts the men's and women's downhills in the spotlight. In Cortina, it's all about icy slopes, demanding nerves and skill. The perfect track for our "crack shots." The Day 4 highlights will show who really masters the piste.
  • Day 7 – Boardercross showdown: And then there's Day 7, when the snowboard cross decisions go down. Our comeback king will give it his all to make his gold medal dream a reality. I've watched him train – he's faster than ever. The Day 7 highlights will be a party for all snowboard fans.

Milan and Cortina: A stage for big emotions

The host cities of the Winter Paralympics – Milan Cortina 2026 (ITA) couldn't be more different: glamorous Milan, Italy's fashion capital, meets charming Cortina in the Dolomites. Together, they provide the perfect backdrop for stories of passion, fighting spirit, and triumph. The Italians are known for their enthusiasm – I'm certain the venues will be buzzing. And our Swiss fans will give it their all to cheer the team on loud and proud.

So, set your alarms, plan your evenings – these are Games we won't forget in a hurry. Behind every medal is a story worth telling. I'm looking forward to ten unforgettable days – and I hope you are too. Let's go, Switzerland!
