Blessed Supplications for the Night of Qadr: The Best Duas for the Last Ten Days of Ramadan
Here we are, living in the final, spiritually charged moments of the blessed month of Ramadan. The last ten days bring us an irreplaceable gift: Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Decree), about which the Most Merciful said: "It is better than a thousand months." Everyone is waiting for it, but the question on many minds is: What should we say during it? How can we ensure our supplications are accepted?
The Most Famous Accepted Duas for Laylat al-Qadr
What makes this night special is that prayer has a different feel to it; it's an act of worship where mercy is manifest. Among the most beautiful narrations from the Prophet ﷺ is a short but profound supplication: "Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbu al-'afwa fa'fu 'anni" (O Allah, You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me). This prayer combines beseeching God through one of His greatest attributes (Forgiveness) with the ultimate request (pardon). Don't hesitate to repeat it hundreds of times; it is truly at the heart of accepted supplications for the Night of Power.
But don't limit yourself to just this. You can pray with other words straight from your heart, such as: "O Allah, on this night, write us among those You free from the Fire," or "O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and self-sufficiency." What matters most is that the prayer stems from sincerity, and that you feel, as you raise your hands, that you are standing at the door of the King of all kings.
Prayers for Protecting Yourself (Ruqya) on This Night
Alongside the virtue of supplication, we shouldn't forget the aspect of spiritual protection. On these nights, a believer is keen on protecting themselves and their family from all harm. Among the transmitted prayers for self-protection are: reciting Ayat al-Kursi (the Throne Verse) after every prayer, and the Mu'awwidhatayn (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas) three times in the morning and evening. And at night, you can say: "A'udhu bi kalimatillahi at-tammati min sharri ma khalaq" (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created). These words keep you under Allah's protection until morning.
Don't forget that protecting yourself isn't just through prayer, but also through good deeds. Charity on these nights wards off calamities, and maintaining family ties prolongs life. Establish a daily routine of remembrances (adhkar) that bring peace to the heart.
Key Deeds for the Last Ten Days
Everyone knows the last ten days are the final sprint to Paradise. Here are some actions to help you make the most of this night:
- I'tikaf (Seclusion): Even if it's just for a few hours in the mosque, secluding yourself with Allah increases focus and reverence.
- Reading the Quran: Try to complete another recitation of the Quran during these ten days, and ponder its verses.
- Persistent Supplication: Set aside time after midnight, as it is the time of Sahur (pre-dawn) when the Lord descends to the lowest heaven.
- Charity (Sadaqah): Even a kind word is charity, but giving financially during these days is even better.
Seize It as the Opportunity of a Lifetime
Don't let these nights pass by unnoticed. You never know if you will witness them again. Gather yourself and your family, humble yourselves before Allah, asking for everything you desire of the good in this life and the Hereafter. Ask Him to bless your life, your provision, and your children. And remember, there are no limits to supplications on Laylat al-Qadr; Allah is Generous and loves that His servant asks of Him. Make this night a turning point in your life, and move forward from it towards a bright future with Allah's pleasure.
We ask Allah to accept the good deeds from us and from you, and to make us among those He frees from the Fire on this blessed night. O Allah, Ameen.
