Here we are, living through the final spiritually-charged moments of the blessed month of Ramadan. The last ten days bring us an irreplaceable gift: Laylatul Qadr (the Night of Power), about which the Most Merciful said: "It is better than a thousand months." Everyone is waiting for it, but the question on many minds is: What should we say on this night? How can we ensure our prayers are accepted?

Famous Accepted Duas for Laylatul Qadr

What makes this night special is that prayer here has a different feel; it's an act of worship where mercy is truly manifested. One of the most beautiful supplications from the Prophet ﷺ is short yet profound: "Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul 'afwa fa'fu 'anni" (O Allah, You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me). This dua combines beseeching Allah through His greatest attribute (forgiveness) with the ultimate request (pardon). Don't hesitate to repeat it hundreds of times; it is at the heart of accepted duas for Laylatul Qadr.

But don't limit yourself to just this. You can also pray with other supplications straight from your heart, such as: "Allahumma aktibna fi hadhihil laylati min 'utaqa'ika min an-nar" (O Allah, on this night, write us among those freed from the Hellfire), or "Allahumma inni as'aluka al-huda wat-tuqa wal-'afafa wal-ghina" (O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and self-sufficiency). What matters is that the prayer comes from sincerity, and that you feel, as you raise your hands, that you are standing at the door of the King of all kings.

Duas for Self-Protection on This Night

Alongside the virtue of supplication, we shouldn't forget the aspect of protection. On these nights of power, believers are keen on protecting themselves and their families from all harm. Among the transmitted duas for self-protection are: reciting Ayat al-Kursi after every prayer, and reciting Al-Mu'awwidhatayn (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas) three times in the morning and evening. And at night, you can say: "A'udhu bikalimatillah at-tammati min sharri ma khalaq" (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created). These words keep you under Allah's protection until morning.

Don't forget that protecting yourself isn't just through dua, but also through good deeds. Charity on these nights wards off calamities, and maintaining family ties lengthens life. Establish a regular routine of remembrance (dhikr) that brings peace to the heart.

Important Acts in the Last Ten Days

Everyone knows that the last ten days are the final sprint towards Paradise. Here are some actions to help you make the most of this night:

  • I'tikaf (Seclusion): Even if it's just for a few hours in the mosque, secluding yourself with Allah increases humility and focus.
  • Reading the Quran: Try to complete another recitation of the Quran during these ten days, and ponder over its verses.
  • Persisting in Du'a: Set aside time after midnight, during the pre-dawn hour (sahar) when the Lord descends to the lowest heaven.
  • Charity (Sadaqah): Even a kind word is charity, but it's better to give financial charity during these days.

Seize It as the Opportunity of a Lifetime

Don't let these nights pass by without benefit. You don't know if you'll experience them again. Gather yourself and your family, humble yourself before Allah, and ask Him for all the good you desire in this life and the next. Ask Him to bless your life, your provision, and your children. And remember that duas on Laylatul Qadr have no limits; Allah is Generous and loves when His servant asks Him. Make this night a turning point in your life, and move forward from it towards a bright future with Allah's pleasure.

We ask Allah to accept our good deeds and yours, and to make us among those He frees from the Fire on this blessed night. O Allah, Ameen.
