Qunut supplication during Fajr prayer

From the early morning of Wednesday, 18 March 2026, mosques across the nation from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah, and from Sharjah to Ajman, have regained their spiritual warmth. The Qunut supplication has returned to the Fajr (morning) prayer, and this time around, it's official following a circular from official sources. Those who prayed Fajr today surely felt the difference—that sense of unity and collective supplication just before the Imam gives the final salutations. It's something that reminds us of the past and truly touches our hearts during the last ten days of Ramadan.

What's the story with today's Qunut prayer?

Al-Qunut isn't an innovation or something new; it's a prophetic Sunnah we've longed for during every Fajr. The decision, implemented from today, aims to revive this Sunnah and enhance humility and focus in the Fajr prayer. The Ramadan atmosphere combined with this decision has created an exceptional spiritual state in the mosques. After prayers today, people are reciting the dua, and everyone is looking for a way to memorise it and recite it along with the Imam. For this reason, we are publishing the written Qunut supplication exactly as recited by the imams.

The Qunut Supplication in Writing.. Memorise & Recite It

To share in the reward and be with the Imam word for word, here is the text of the dua that most mosques in the UAE are using:

  • "O Allah, guide us among those You have guided, pardon us among those You have pardoned, befriend us among those You have befriended, bless us in what You have granted, and protect us from the evil of what You have decreed. For indeed You decree, and none can decree over You. Indeed, he is not humiliated whom You befriend, nor is he honoured who is Your enemy. Blessed are You, our Lord, and Exalted."
  • It is recommended to follow this by sending blessings upon Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and making dua for Muslims everywhere.

Many of our brothers and sisters are asking how to read the dua at home or in the car without using up mobile data. For that reason, the best solution is to copy the text or save an image of the dua in your phone's photo gallery. This way, you'll have the Qunut supplication without needing the internet that you can refer to anytime, whether in the prayer hall or before Fajr at home.

How to Make Qunut a Part of Your Day?

It's not just about being in the mosque. The Qunut dua has a different flavour when we understand its meaning. These days, try teaching this dua to your children, explain to them that we are asking Allah for guidance and well-being. Let them feel the sweetness of standing before the Creator in the quiet of the night. And for anyone with questions about the wording or method of this supplication, the imams are available in the mosques after prayers for any queries. Fajr today, and on other days, has taken on a special meaning in our beloved country. O Allah, accept our righteous deeds and yours.
