CONDUSEF launches 'Financial Strokes' children's drawing competition to teach kids about money
If there's one thing that troubles us, it's reaching the end of the month with empty pockets. That's why, whenever CONDUSEF gears up with a workshop or an event for the little ones, it brings a smile to our faces. Because we know that if children learn the value of money from a young age, they won't be left wondering where their allowance disappeared when they grow up.
That's precisely why the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (known to everyone simply as CONDUSEF) has just announced the children's drawing competition, "Financial Strokes". And no, it's not a boring affair of numbers and fine print; it's a direct invitation to the young artists at home to use their colours and imagination to show us how they would manage their pocket money wisely.
What is 'Financial Strokes' all about?
The idea is quite simple and really wonderful. CONDUSEF wants children aged 6 to 12 years to think about concepts like saving, family expenses, and why we shouldn't spend all our piggy bank savings on candies. The central theme of the drawing should revolve around questions like "How do you teach your family to manage money carefully?" or "What would you do to ensure your piggy bank is never empty?".
Entries will be accepted until May 30th at various offices of the institution. And here's the important part: you don't need to live in the capital city to participate. CONDUSEF has a wide reach, and you can submit your masterpieces to any of its regional offices. For instance, if you're in the north, you can visit the CONDUSEF Zacatecas Office. If you're on the coast, the CONDUSEF Veracruz Office will be receiving drawings with equal enthusiasm. And for those living in the highlands, the CONDUSEF Pachuca Hidalgo Office will also be a submission point. This way, children can let their imagination soar without having to leave their state.
Worthwhile Prizes
As with any good competition, it's not just about the pride of participating (though that itself is a huge reward). CONDUSEF has prepared some really attractive prizes for the winners. Awards include:
- Tablets for the first-place winners, perfect for continuing to explore the digital world (with parental controls, of course).
- Educational games related to finance, so that learning doesn't feel like homework.
- School supply kits and books on financial education for the young artists.
The best part is that the selected drawings will be displayed at CONDUSEF offices and at various consumer fairs organised throughout the year. So, children can proudly show their friends: "Look, my artwork is at CONDUSEF!".
More than a Competition, Building a Habit
Initiatives like "Financial Strokes" are a welcome step. The truth is, we've been slowly, gradually picking up the habit of saving, but there's still a long way to go. The fact that CONDUSEF takes the time to visit schools and now launch a drawing competition shows that financial education isn't just for people in suits and ties, but for the entire family.
So, parents, you know what to do: print out the competition details, get some white sheets or chart paper, and sit down to draw with your children. It's not just a chance to win a cool prize, but also an opportunity to spend an afternoon discussing why it's better to save for the future rather than spend everything at once. For more details, you can visit your nearest CONDUSEF office, whether it's the CONDUSEF Zacatecas Office, the CONDUSEF Veracruz Office, or the CONDUSEF Pachuca Hidalgo Office. The main thing is to participate.
