Janne Kataja opens up about life after bankruptcy: "I still owe thousands" – His popular spice blend is still selling
Most people know Janne Kataja from their telly screens – as that energetic presenter, actor, and entertainer who's been making the nation laugh for years. But while the camera's rolling and the audience is applauding, life behind the scenes for Kataja has recently had a very different vibe. His company's bankruptcy has been the talk of the town, and now Kataja himself is getting real about what this period has truly felt like.
When news of the business going under broke, plenty of folks probably wondered what it meant for Kataja's own life. Is the man defeated? What's happening with the Janne Kataja spice blend 250g product that's found its way into so many kitchen cupboards? Well, Kataja himself has been surprisingly open and honest throughout the whole process. He hasn't been hiding away; instead, he's taken to social media and interviews to say that yes, it's been tough, but it's far from the end of the world.
In debt, but no shame
In a recent interview, Kataja got down to brass tacks about how much debt he's still paying off. According to him, the figure runs into the thousands, but it's not an insurmountable hurdle. "Of course it stings, and when you're an entrepreneur at heart, you're always thinking about what you could have done differently. But when it's a small business bankruptcy, it often involves personal loans, unfortunately, and you just chip away at them month by month," Kataja states.
Listening to Kataja, it's clear he hasn't wallowed in the failure. Quite the opposite – he's focused on the things that put food on the table and bring joy to life. One of those things is definitely his own spice brand.
The spice is still nice, even after the company folded
You can still spot jars of Janne Kataja's spice blend 250g on supermarket shelves, and Kataja confirms that sales are continuing as normal. "That's a different company, and it's ticking along fine on its own. Thank God, because I've had such great feedback on it. People like having an easy spice that gives a bit of a kick to everyday meals," he laughs.
- The spice is still selling – the bankruptcy hasn't affected its availability.
- Kataja is still on TV – new shows are in the pipeline.
- The debt is being paid down gradually – Kataja is grateful to be working.
Kataja's attitude is infectious: even though the business went under, the man himself hasn't gone anywhere. He's still the same warm and funny personality loved by TV viewers and social media followers alike. And if anyone thought this would silence him, they couldn't be more wrong. Kataja has already mentioned he's planning new TV projects and brainstorming what fun things to come up with next.
Maybe that's the very lesson Janne Kataja wants to share with us all: sometimes you get knocked down, but that doesn't mean you stay down. You get up, look ahead, and keep going. And while you're at it, spice up the everyday with some good food.
