If there's a TV duo that's won the hearts of the Spanish public, it's undoubtedly Cristina Pardo and Iñaki López. The presenters of 'Más vale tarde' (laSexta) don't just rule the afternoons with their unique take on current affairs; they've now made the leap to the big screen. And not just any old how: no less than with the one and only Santiago Segura in his latest instalment of the saga, 'Torrente, presidente'.

Last week, while watching the film, we could hardly believe our eyes: there were Cristina Pardo Schlesinger (yes, with that rather distinguished second surname) and her colleague, right in the thick of the Torrente universe. The scene, which we won't reveal to avoid spoilers, has been one of the most talked-about on social media. But the best bit came afterwards, when they decided to discuss the big moment on their own show.

On 'Más vale tarde', the pair opened up about how they found the whole experience. Iñaki, with his trademark irony, insisted they agreed "because Segura's a genius and he also promised we'd look absolutely gorgeous." Cristina Pardo, for her part, couldn't help but laugh recalling the bloopers: "Santiago's a whirlwind, he makes you feel right at home, but suddenly you find yourself surrounded by the most outlandish characters and you think: where did I land myself?"

The chemistry between the presenters and the director was obvious in every story they shared. Here's the best of what they came out with live on air:

  • "The hardest part was keeping a straight face during filming", Iñaki confessed, setting his co-host off laughing.
  • "My mother called me, completely gobsmacked after seeing me in the cinema", Cristina Pardo recounted between guffaws.
  • "Santiago told us we were the presenters he'd always dreamed of for Torrente", Pardo added with her characteristic wit.

And of course, in Navarre, the home turf of Cristina Pardo Schlesinger, the cameo hasn't gone unnoticed. In the Foral Community, the journalist's foray into film has been celebrated with pride, as she's already one of the region's most beloved figures. And quite rightly so: seeing a serious, hard-hitting journalist thrown into the madcap world of Torrente takes some beating.

For now, the duo remain at the helm of laSexta's afternoons, but this brief cinematic interlude proves that Cristina Pardo and Iñaki López can turn their hand to anything. Will we be seeing more of them on film soon? Santiago Segura might just be cooking up a new part for them. In the meantime, we'll make do with enjoying them every afternoon and with this cameo, which is already a piece of Spanish cinema history.
