The Formula 1 world is gearing up for action once again. While we're still savouring an incredible season, everyone is already casting a cautious eye towards the 2025 F1 calendar. But that calendar is far from set in stone. The races in the Middle East, in particular, are causing major headaches. You might be thinking: Max Verstappen not racing at all in April? It could very well happen.

The rumour mill is in overdrive. Toto Wolff's mind seemed elsewhere last week. The good news? He hinted that his team has left the region safely. Where? That's still a matter of speculation, but all eyes are on Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Those two races are scheduled for early 2025, but the situation there is tense. F1 needs to make a quick decision, otherwise, a massive gap threatens to appear in the calendar.

Gasly trusts the decision-makers

Pierre Gasly, for one, is confident. The Frenchman trusts F1's leadership to make the right call regarding Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. "There's a lot at stake," he said this week. And he's right. Not just for the teams and drivers, but for us fans too. Just imagine: Max Verstappen might have to watch from the sidelines in April. A nightmare for any Dutch F1 fan.

Still, the 2025 F1 calendar is slowly but surely taking shape. The first designs are already appearing, not just digitally, but on wood too. More and more enthusiasts are snapping up a stylish wooden F1 calendar. Take, for instance, the LBM F1 Calendar 2023 - Wood - 40 * 30 cm, which graced many living rooms last year. This year, we're also seeing cool variations like the Hip met Pit Creations Wooden Formula 1 Coasters Set of 6 10x10cm – perfect for a race night with friends. And for the true planners: images of a 2026 F1 Calendar on wood are even circulating, although that seems a bit like pie in the sky for now.

What else can we expect?

Aside from the uncertainty in the Middle East, there are plenty of firm fixtures. Zandvoort, of course, remains on the calendar, and classics like Monza and Silverstone are also in the pipeline. But the big question remains: will we be going to Bahrain in April or not? Until then, we can only guess and get our Formula 1 tapas board ready for the first GP.

To keep things clear, here are the main issues at a glance:

  • Middle East uncertainty: Do Bahrain and Saudi Arabia need to be moved or cancelled? F1 must decide quickly.
  • Max Verstappen: If the races don't go ahead, the world champion will be idle in April. A loss for the sport.
  • New merchandise: Wooden calendars, coasters, and F1-themed tapas boards are more popular than ever.
  • Looking ahead to 2026: The first 2026 F1 Calendar products are already appearing, but for now, our focus is on 2025.

In short, we're in a waiting game. The F1 calendar is always a talking point, but the tension has definitely been cranked up a notch this year. Hold on tight, because 2025 is shaping up to be a rollercoaster ride regardless. And whether Max is racing in April or not – we'll be ready, with a cold beer and a wooden coaster underneath it.
