Sunny spring weather in the Netherlands

It's finally here: spring has well and truly arrived. Anyone who stepped outside this morning could hardly believe their eyes. A brilliant blue sky, not a single cloud in sight, and that gorgeous sun already packing some real warmth. Today is shaping up to be another unseasonably warm spring day. Temperatures are locally hitting the 17-degree mark, feeling more like early May than early March. Yesterday was beautiful, but today the sun is turning it up a notch.

In cities like Rotterdam and Amsterdam, cafe terraces are slowly filling up. Right in the heart of the city, you can hear the clink of coffee cups and the buzz of people finally able to sit outside again. Cycling is an absolute treat: jacket undone, wind in your hair. It's the kind of day that instantly lifts your spirits. No wonder everyone's talking about it. Even the birds seem to be singing louder than usual.

The big question on everyone's mind now is: how long will this gorgeous weather last? For those keen to look ahead, there are plenty of weather platforms to check. The detailed forecast from Weather 14 days - Meteored shows conditions will become more changeable in the coming days, but it'll stay pleasant through the weekend. There'll be more cloud cover, but you can leave the brolly at home for now. Evenings do cool down quickly, so a warm jumper is still a good idea for late-night outings.

For anyone wanting to track the weather in detail, there are now plenty of handy tools available. Personally, I swear by a combination of a few apps:

  • Meteored – ideal for the 14-day outlook and reliable rain radar.

  • Weather Pro – for true enthusiasts who want all the stats, like wind gusts and UV index.
  • The Weather - Weather – simple and quick, with a clear hourly forecast.
  • Accurate weather with YoWindow – a visual treat that shows the weather with realistic landscapes, perfect for the tablet.

It's lovely to see Australia enjoy this little summer interlude. My advice? Shove your work aside for a bit, get outdoors and soak up that vitamin D. Just a heads-up though: the sun's starting to get pretty strong, so slap on some sunscreen if you're planning on staying out long. Hayfever sufferers might want to be cautious too; trees and grasses are shooting up everywhere, so pollen is flying about.

Either way: today's a day to make the most of. Grab it with both hands, because you know how it goes – before you know it, it'll be grey and drizzly again. But for now: enjoy that glorious spring weather!
